to permit wxPythonGTK2-py2.3-2.4.2.4-src.rpm to build on Fedora Core 2
(solves the linking "problem" with _gtk_ internal function calls).
Is the wxPython-2.4.x.x series actively maintained as the stable
version?

Sorta. Fixes are still being checked in to that branch of CVS, but there are no definite plans (at the moment) to make make a 2.4.3 release.
