Yes, in fact we are deep into tying to figure
out VTK. “We” is me and my undergraduate assistant – both
largely ignorant of graphic-related concepts and implementations. So
coming up to speed on VTK is pretty challenging, though we just had a good
headbanging session where we figured out at least some of the data model
and file formats. She’s very happy now to understand at least a little
about how it works. We’re taking the simple graph example in the
VTK book and poking it to see what happens. Ultimately, I think VTK
is the way we want to go. But I was just looking at VPython as another
possible visualization tool. Unfortunately, although it’s awfully
cute and pretty easy to use, I think there is no way to use it very effectively
with wxPython.
