My app has a function that downloads a config file now, while that is happening, I want to display a little window like the one in the attached photo, how should I do this?

You'd want your own Window/Dialog subclass that uses a wx.Gauge - what
in particular about that screenshot would you like to emulate?

Google had marked the message as spam and I didn't see it in the group management UI until today, but didn't look closely enough at it to notice that it was a near-duplicate.
