Why I will stop using wxPython

Hi all,

My name will slowly desappear from this list. This week, I decided to stop using the wxPython toolkit for developing
new applications.

So far, I had fun to write applications, but now I am really
stuck. The main and more or less solely reason is due to the
wxGrid component that simply does not understand my keyboard
(and certainly all non us-keyboards).

When I discovered wxPython (2.0), I thought this wxGrid bug
would be a temporary bug, but now, two-three years later (!)
and after n versions, this issue is still not fixed and I wonder if it will be one day.

This is how open source works sometimes. When somebody has a personal interest in some fix or feature then they work on it and either make the change or submit a patch. In this case I expect that it is just a matter of there not being somebody with a non-us keyboard that has been bitten by the bug themselves and has cared enough to work on it.

If you care about it enough but are unable to work on a fix for some reason then there are other ways to provoke sufficent interest in other developers who are able to work on it. For example: http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/wiki.pl?WxWidgets_Bounties
