Ubuntu dist-upgrade problems

I know that the versions of PyPE in the Ubuntu and debian repositories
tends to be broken in some way. You are better off downloading and
uncompressing the PyPE source distribution from sourceforge (pype.sf.net),
but don't use the 'python setup.py install' installation procedure, just
put it where you want to use it.

SPE may or may not have the same issues.

FYI,
This morning, I performed a dist-upgrade on an Ubuntu based pc. Several
wx libs were upgraded. As a result, SPE and PyPE both ceased to load.
DrPython is still working.

I'm running Python2.4, wxPython 2.6.3, and Xubuntu 6.10.
I'm using standard edgy repositories and the wxpython APT for dapper
(which is a possible suspect)
