text (and images) rendering question

Hi list,

from what I read here and there in the web it seems rendering HTML
is quite bloated (especially RAM consumption); what about rich text?
(this is for a help system)

I haven't had any issues with wxHTML, it seems to be a pretty lean system to me.

Do you have any actuall issues?

As for comparison with RTC, I'd say try it.

I suspect that HTML will be an easier route.

Ok, may be I'll try it; I haven't made a decision on the help system
yet (may be text only).

No, but I read some people had.

Ok

Yes, but let's be clear about what that means. wxHTML implements a
small subset of HTML. If that subset covers your problem domain, then
it is a great and lightweight solution. But if you need style sheets
and Javascript, then you are essentially required to embed a full
browser, and in that case I think his word "bloated" is appropriate.

No, this will be a simple help system with may be 3 polices (sans,
serif & monospace) and pictures (this is also why I asked, as RTF
embed its pictures).
So if you say it is ok for this use, why not.

I think this is an ideal application for the wx.HTML components. I've
used it for that purpose myself.
