stipple pattern to underline text?

Hi,

Is there a way I could use a stipple pattern, in STC or some other
control, to underline a piece of text, e.g. to indicate that there is a
spelling error?

Yep, the wxSTC calls them Indicators and they can be applied to a chunk of text as part of the style bytes.
