Screenshot of wxPython on ReactOS

Hello folks.

Are you familiar with the ReactOS project? It’s pretty cool:

http://www.reactos.org

This is a project to make an open-source operating system which will be binary-compatible with Windows.

Just for fun, I ran my wxPython app on it and took a screenshot. Still has many bugs, but works.

Hadn’t heard of it. That sounds like an unimaginably big job; hats off to them (I think).

Nice.

I'm always surprised when a Windows developer has not heard of

ReactOS. The project has been underway for more than a decade.
It’s a fabulous resource for Windows kernel-mode developers, because
you have the complete source code available to you. The code didn’t
come from Microsoft, but the implementation is practically
identical.

I doubt they will ever be done, however. They're shooting at a

moving target.

True, but I think the target now is to pretty much get to Xp’s level, and it already has the one thing windows lack, a nice package manager. In fact, if I could use it (reactOS’ package manager) on my linux, I would.
