To the Windows users on this list,
Phatch is as I posted earlier a Photo Batch processor, which you can
download at: http://photobatch.stani.be > free download (see below)
I have been working the last couple of days purely on bug fixing and
to port the code of Phatch fully to Windows as there were many issues.
This has improved:
- Phatch can now create droplets on Windows (win32 extensions required)
- Installed fonts are retrieved from the Windows registry
- Image file dialogs are now working correctly
- Missing icons are added (including a phatch.ico) and are now
displayed in the windows titlebars
- Image Inspector was missing a panel
- Preview in Image Inspector now displays correctly
- (...)
Besides that Phatch now features for all platforms:
- fonts can be defined with a nice dropdown autocomplete list
- drop down lists with convenient values in all actions
- the action masks now ships with some predefined masks (such as torn edges)
- right click in the actions dialog box to see the source of an action
- View>Droplet nows shows the name of the action box rendered in the logo
- Dutch translation is 100% complete
As such no new features have been added, but the user experience feels
much more polished now.
(You might need a tool like http://www.7-zip.org for unzipping the
tar.gz archive.)
People who have been using Phatch before should clear their font cache
(if it exists). Simply delete the file:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\.phatch\fonts
I did the Phatch port on a Windows 2000 machine, so I am curious to
hear how Phatch works on Windows XP and Vista. I will fix any bug (as
far as possible) which is reported quickly in the next couple of days.
Well I am still on SPE as well. Expect a new release soon...
I've tried quickly under vista,
Nice to see at least one windows user trying it! I see you are french,
in the next couple of days Phatch will be 100% translated in french.
In case you work on an English Windows, you can force the french
language by starting Phatch like this:
python phatch.py -l fr
Feel free to help translating future versions of Phatch here:
The more people contribute translations, the less each has to do.
and it worked for me.
Can you send me privately some screenshots?
Two points that can be imporved :
- there is some flickering when clicking an options of the filters.
(perhaps add a freeze while drawing option line?)
Thanks for the suggestion. I implemented it in the latest bazaar and
will be released soon (will be 0.1.bzr488 or higher). Or it would be
nice if you would run Phatch from bazaar. Just download bazaar from: http://bazaar-vcs.org/WindowsDownloads
Afterwards you can do:
bzr checkout lp:phatch
And later
bzr update
In this way you will always be up to date. If there is a bug you can
always report here and I will fix it immediately if it is critical:
- From a user point of view, it could be interesting to have a short result
status at the end of processing. I had applied a first filter on a lot. And
applying another filter didn't do anything silently. This was because I
didn't check the overwrite option.
This is of course by design. It allows you to resume a previous
session of thousands of photos. It will than simply skip the ones
which are done already.
Perhaps a short text with processed file/ not processed file because of
readonly etc... can be interesting?
