Legacy-install-failure wxpython

I am trying to install wxpython on the newly install KDE desktop. I am getting the following error. Please advise how to resolve it.

(.venv) vijay@vijay:/data/wx$ pip install wxpython
Collecting wxpython
  Using cached wxPython-4.2.0.tar.gz (71.0 MB)
  Preparing metadata (setup.py) ... done
Collecting pillow
  Using cached Pillow-9.3.0-cp310-cp310-manylinux_2_28_x86_64.whl (3.3 MB)
Requirement already satisfied: six in ./.venv/lib/python3.10/site-packages (from wxpython) (1.16.0)
Collecting numpy
  Using cached numpy-1.23.5-cp310-cp310-manylinux_2_17_x86_64.manylinux2014_x86_64.whl (17.1 MB)
Using legacy 'setup.py install' for wxpython, since package 'wheel' is not installed.
