Is there a list of wxPython libraries?

I was wondering if there was any kind of list of wxPython libraries/custom widget scripts anywhere?

For instance (just to name a few), I’ve found:

…and others…

I was considering creating a list myself, but I wasn’t sure if one already existed.

Would a list like that, on a page in the wxPython Wiki, be a
good default landing point for the browser demo in the, well,
wxPython demo ?

Sure, such lists tend to bit-rot.

Karsten

Hi, thanks for responding. However, I am not sure what your saying. Could you clarify please?

Umm…Yes, I suppose.

Yes, list like that rot, but I am not sure I understand what your point is.

Hi CorrectSyntax,
You can create a new wiki page and add a link here.

wxPython snippets, links…

Is that really a good place to put it? I’ve been using wxpython for over a year and didn’t even know that page existed… Nevertheless, thanks for suggesting it.

What would I put it under on that page? Wiki?

Hello,
this common page is recent and updated for wxPython Phoenix.

You can also find this link here :
Discuss wxPython forum/all categories/How-To Guides x 8/

You can create a new wiki page and add a Github section to this link but you must create an account before:
https://wiki.wxpython.org/FrontPage?action=login
or
https://wiki.wxpython.org/wxPython%20snippets%2C%20examples%2C%20tutorials%2C%20links...%20(Phoenix)#Wiki_:

Welcome to you ! :+1:

O.k. Thanks. I will look into this.

O.k. So it turns out that there does seem to be a page already https://wiki.wxpython.org/wxPythonPit%20Libs, but most of the links are no good because they’re old or have already been implemented into wxpython.

I also found https://wiki.wxpython.org/wxPythonPit%20Apps but going through the list seems like walking through a ghost town, if you know what I mean. Most of the project haven’t been updated in 6 years or more. Kinda sad…

Maybe this isn’t the place to ask, but are there any real programs (other than my own, I guess) that use wxpython? I mostly see little demos/scripts around but not really any programs more complex than what could be done in a few weeks (I mean other than wxformbuilder, wxglade, etc).

As I said: such lists tend to bit-rot easily.

And a lot of others (say, transana).

So, just to confirm, where would a good place to put a list? Should I just edit the https://wiki.wxpython.org/wxPythonPit%20Libs page or make a new one?

I think part of the problem is how the wiki website looks and is arranged that makes it hard to find things. I am not going to complain, though as I know that its volunteer project (which I am grateful for) and I don’t have the time to re-design the site myself, currently.

Thanks for all your answers!

There are some here on the screenshots page:

Editing the existing page would be the best of those options. If you’re not already in the list at TrustedEditorsGroup then let me know your wiki ID and I’ll add you.

Another possibility would be to add the list to a post here on Discuss wxPython, maybe in the How-To category, and we can switch the post to behave more like a wiki so other users (with trust level > 0) can edit the main post in the topic. The user authentication and security options here in Discourse are tons better than the MoinMoin wiki.

Thank you, Robin!

The screenshots page is just what I was looking for as far as examples of applications (DisplayCAL is along the lines of the application type I was looking for examples of).

Is that what you would like me to do, or would you like to create a post here, like you described? Whichever works better for you is fine with me.

Updating the wiki page is probably the best for now.

O.k. Thank you.

Uh-oh… I tried to create a new account at this url (https://wiki.wxpython.org/action/newaccount/FrontPage?action=newaccount), but a 500 error:

I don’t have easy access to the server at the moment. I’ll look into this as soon as I can.

Hi @Robin. Is there any update on this? Should I try again?

I haven’t been able to track down the source of the 500 error yet.[*]

However, in my test the account was actually created, so I suggest trying to log in and see if it worked for you too.

[*] It seems to be an issue between apache and the fastcgi module, perhaps a timeout or overflow due to the massive amount of user accounts from spammer attempts. (MoinMoin security is pretty weak, which is why we need the TrustedEditorsGroup.)

o.k. I will try logging in and see what happens.

@Robin, o.k. I think I am logged in now. https://wiki.wxpython.org/correct-syntax. How can I find my wiki ID?

Your wiki ID is your login name. I’ve added correct-syntax to the TrustedEditorsGroup.
