Get a list of available printers

Is there a way to get a list of the available printers?

I know this can be done on MSW using MSWinPrint.py but I was hoping for something cross-platform.

Not out of the box. The philosophy of printer support is extremely
variable. It's quite difficult to come up with a common interface that
maps to the various platforms.

Not that I know of sthg like this ....
The problem is that the printing engines are totally different- what you
can do though is write an abstraction class that checks for the OS and
queries accordingly ...
