embedding a control in wxGrid

I see (from demo/GridStdEdRend.py) that subclassing wxGridCellRenderer
involves working with wxDC. Is there a way I can embed a control in
wxDC so that it can appear in the grid?

wxGrid does. You can use a wxGridCellRenderer derived class to
control
how the cell is drawn when it is not being edited, and a
wxGridCellEditor derived class to create/manage a control to be used
for
the cell's editor.
