Continuing slider sizing problem

Thanks much for this Robin. It was driving me nuts and I had spent quite a
bit of time beating on it.

I'm unable to convert to 2.5.x of wxPython at the moment. So I'll just
ignore it. In a few weeks, I will probably do that conversion.

It drove me nuts too. The fix only took adding a whole 5 characters to the source code, but it was in a quite convoluted, ugly and complex section...
