Colour issue with aui wxPython 4.1.1

I observed an issue with the background colours of frames managed by AUI. The aui demo looks like this:

Titelbars and apparently the overall background (the narrow lines between the aui windows) are black.
This happens on OSX with wxPython 4.1.1. It looks fine with wxPython 4.1.0.

I don’t know whether it’s related, but with 4.1.1 some of my toolbar icons have a black background instead of transparent:

I did not yet have a close look.

I am also struggling with colours. Maybe related this post.

Other elements that don’t have colour management are windows frames (title bar, system menu) and menus.
