Announcing a Rich Text Format parser for wxRichTextCtrl

Hello all,

I have written a Rich Text Format parser for the wxPython wxRichTextCtrl.

The current status is prerelease, version 0.1, not yet ready for prime time.
In other words, it works on my computers, but nobody else has tried it yet.
Please keep your expectations realistic and your criticisms gentle.

I've tested it with wxPython 2.8.10.1 (unicode) on Windows and wxPython
2.8.9.2 (unicode) on OS X, both using Python 2.5.x.

If you'd like to have a look, information about the project is at

I would welcome comments, suggestions, testing, collaboration, patches, etc.

Hi David. Again, this is just very cool indeed. and thank you for
this contribution. I'm really looking forward to trying it out soon
when I get the chance. I guess (portable) RichText is the sort of
thing that if you don't need it in your app, maybe you don't notice
much whether there is a widget that supports it, but if you *do* need
it, it's a major enhancement of wxPython GUIs.

I will look into the issue I mentioned about being able to use rich
text from/to the clipboard, and see how that goes (I know nothing
about that topic, but I'll see if I can get some understanding).
