Last year Packt contacted me about putting together an updated version of the wxPython 2.8 Application Development Cookbook (https://www.packtpub.com/application-development/wxpython-28-application-development-cookbook) to account for some of the new things and changes that have been made available in wxPython 2.9 / 3.0. Sounded like a fun opportunity to use wxPython again so I decided to take on the project.
This is an update of the previous book and is targeting Python 2.7 and wxPython 3.0. However nearly all recipes have been re-written / refreshed, each chapter has new recipes, and there is a completely new chapter about using the Grid control and other data displays. I did what I could to try and differentiate this from the previous book and pack in as much additional content that was not directly covered in the first version while still fitting into the scope of this update and making the book able to stand on its own.
When the time comes to updating your book to that of wxPython Phoenix builds, could you include some recipes on wxPython and accessibility? I know some programmers who uses wxPython and have enquired about accessibility or have actual experiences with accessibility of wxPython apps and controls, especially for people using screen readers and other assistive technologies (please feel free to write to me about this offlist so I can forward your questions to the appropriate developers).

I am pretty sure that I won’t write any future book for wxPython after this one. It takes too much time that I don’t really have available any more. If your interested in these topics being covered then I suggest leaving feedback with Packt so that they take it into account in any future revisions that they may plan (https://www.packtpub.com/books/info/packt/contact-us).

Well its nice to see a Printers idea get into an actual book every once and a while. I didn’t think anyone was paying attention. pep8notation
Awesome sauce!
I’ll have to write a chapter that whines about trailing whitespace and why readability counts someday when I compile SourceCoder into a book someday.
I’ll have to order up a copy of your new book next time I get to talk with the ordering staff and check out the new recipes.
Sorry to hear about possibly no more book writing adventures.
Are you still planning on working on updating Editra anymore or wxPythoneering?
