[wxPython] wxWindows Book

Hello All,

As I mentioned in a previous email, I am doing a GUI only wxPython book. However I have been a user of wxWindows for quite some time and would like to help any way I can in the effort. Since I am involved in writing a book about wxPython and since there is an intimate relationship between the two packages, I could spend more time on this than some people could. I would be happy to head up the effort and write and help coordinate.

Ideas and feedback are welcome at this stage.

After recently moving away from tkinter to use wxPython ... I have found
that the only thing really letting this package down is lack of
documentation.

Would anyone be interested in helping to write/ contributing to a

wxWindows

open source book ?

Why not just add more content to the wxPyWiki? The cookbook seciton is a
bit unorganized at the moment, but there is a lot there that would make good
book fodder. OTOH, you could always add a new link on the Front page to a
set of more organized, book-like content.

Gary

I'm reasonably good Python programmer. However, that is not my background.
It's the same for my colleagues at work. Only recently have we begun to look
into writing GUI python apps.

I've looked at John E. Grayson's book, Python and Tkinter Programming, and I
find it much easier to understand than wxPython. If you would point out how
on the wxPython components build on topic of each other, interact -- that
would be a huge benefit. wxPython appeal is that it support multi-platform,
but it reminds me when I tried to learn Windows programming.

Maybe that's too basic for the book you want to write. I think it would make
a good introduction to wxPython.
