I already have wxwindows installed - and would like to just install wxPython
Where can I get it without all the extras that are already installed ?
You'll need to built it yourself.
It seems to be a bit redundant to only offer it with an already installed library.
There are many options to control how wxWidgets is built, and many of them create a shared lib that is incompatible with other options. So the the best way I can provide a binary that I can guarentee is compatible with the wxWidgets build is to also include wxWidgets. (Especially since my preferences for build options is a bit different than the default and also my releases often depend on fixes that have been applied to wxWidgets since the last official release.)

Software Craftsman http://wxPython.org Java give you jitters? Relax with wxPython!
If this is the case I will not use the package - other packages available
have tyhe same sort of criteria and they dont require the user to reinstall
with another build - just that the original build is prepared correctly.
Im not going to constantly switch packages - therefor this package is useless
to me.
Sorry but thats the way it is - I beleive that your requirements for a 14 meg
package are unreasonable
Bye.

I believe that you should consult a good English dictionary and read the definitions of words like "tact", "diplomacy", "respect" and perhaps even "common" followed by "decency". For bonus marks, you could conclude this reading session by looking up "social ineptitude", but that's at your option.
Sorry, but that's the way it is.
Yes yes, other readers are free to point me at the entries for "over" and "react".
well actually I would point you also to "tact" and "diplomacy"
tact: a keen sense of what to say or do to avoid giving offense
no offence but pointing a frustrated user to dictionary isn't all that tactfull
diplomacy: skill in managing negotiations, handling people, etc., so that there is little or no ill will; tact.
well, wxpython needs users, frustrated users help developers a lot by pointing out problems. We don't want to lose these users.
the problem pointed out by Mr E_T is quite real and has been discussed before, if I remember corectly it was something about a Runtime Enviroment for wxpython, the equivalent of JRE, I would like to see something like this done... I'm not as radical as Mr. E_T but nevertheless I would like the problem solved.

You're being a bit too kind with "frustrated", I think. I'd opt for "spoilt", but nevermind.

Fortunately I did don my asbestos suit before getting out my flame thrower (which was set on "lightly singe", coincidentally). There are more than enough polite and tactful users that point out problems.

As far as I understood, Mr E_T wanted a wxPython without the wxWindows libraries. This is not *directly* related to the RE issue. That being said: It might be a problem that has to be solved. However, demanding it in the way that Mr E_T did probably does not inspire and motivate anyone to get cracking on a solution.

Indeed, Robin did tell him how to do it if he wanted to do it himself. It's quite possible to have wxWidgets C++ programs and wxPython share the same libs, you just have to compile everything the right way.
By the way, I'd love to think that wxWidgets has a large enough user base that lots of folks have the libs already installed, but somehow I don't think that's quite true yet!

That's the case with wxPython too. If you have an existing build of the wxWidgets libs that is prepared correctly, you don't need to use the libs that come with wxPython. If what you want is to have the wxlibs in a separate installer than the rest of wxPython, that could certainly be done, but frankly, darn few people would want it, so Robin hasn't bothered.
Feel free to make such an installer yourself...maybe we'll be surprised by how many people find it useful

I don't require it either. The wxWidgets included in wxPython binaries can coexist with the wxWidgets already installed. wxPython has its own private copy built with the configuration settings that make sense for wxPython.
Additionally, since this is Open Source you are free to make your own builds however you see fit, even distributable binaries. If you want to make builds that use an already installed wxWidgets then go ahead, no one is stopping you. If you think your changes have value to the community then we can discuss them on wxPython-dev and if you convince my that your way is better then things will change. Whining about things not going your way and then slamming the door behind you as you leave doesn't do anybody any good.
