possible explanation:
You're likely running in 256 colour mode with 256 colour gifs. The
gifs are likely getting mapped to the system's palette before display.

solve it. I'm loading icons into a wxTreectrl (which are in gif format),
but some of the colors are just appearing gray? shades of tan, brown, and

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried using a bitmap instead and got the same
result. I don't know if this proves is disproves your explanation. Has
anyone else had this problem?
