Hello!
I'm the maintainer of the wxPython RPMs for Mandrake Linux and I noticed
that Mandrake users are having problems with the wxPython RPMs "shipped"
on the wxPython.org site.
The RPMs require the old libpng.so.2, whereas Mandrake ships libpng.so.3
in its newest release. Because of this, users are confused by the error
messages when trying to install the official RPMs (cf.
http://kt.zork.net/GNUe/gnue20020511_28.html#11).
Could somebody please put up a note on the website stating that the RPMs
are not usable with Mandrake Linux 8.2? Further, it should be noted
that the Mandrake Contrib section now ships wxPython RPMs and thus
Mandrake Linux users should use those RPMs instead.

Did you update Mandrake from to 8.2 or did you do a fresh install? If
not, then it's not possible, unless you did a --nodeps, because the
wxPython.org RPM requires libpng.so.2, however Mandrake Linux 8.2 only
ships libpng.so.3.
Just out of curiosity: Could you please do a rpm -qf /usr/lib/libpng* ?

Ok.!.
I updated from Mandrake 8.1 to 8.2 .... : )
rpm -qf /usr/lib/libpng* reports:
libpng2-devel-1.0.12-2mdk
libpng3-devel-1.2.1-6mdk
libpng2-devel-1.0.12-2mdk
libpng3-devel-1.2.1-6mdk
libpng2-1.0.12-2mdk
libpng3-1.2.1-6mdk
I have the two versions...

Well, fresh installs of 8.2 don't have libpng2 anymore, so the request
