OK, having failed to build wxPython on Linux, now I'm trying Solaris 2.7
again.
I think I have the prerequisites installed ok,
gtk-config --version
=> 1.2.9
And there is a file /usr/local/lib/libwx_gtk-2.3.so
and a few soft links to it. And the wxGTK demos seem to work.
The version of Python installed is 2.1.1c1
I downloaded wxPython-2.3.1.tar.gz, and untarred it.
I edited setup.py to disable all the optional packages (canvas etc)
Then I used:
python setup.py build
And all went ok until I got these messages:
gcc -O -fpermissive -DSWIG_GLOBAL -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DWXP_USE_THREAD=1 -Isrc
-I/usr/local/include/python2.1 -ce
src/gtk/events.cpp: In function `struct PyObject *

error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1
Does anyone have any ideas what went wrong here?
