wxMozilla

Hi all,

I first want to point out that it'd be helpful if people could CC wxMozilla-related messages to the wxMozilla-devel list. It's not high-traffic, but there are people who read it regularly and typically respond to issues within a day or two, myself included. I browse this newsgroup on occasion, which is how I caught this message, but there's a bit too much traffic on this list for me to keep up with - so by sending the message to this list only, it may not get seen by the very people who could answer your question.

Hi all.

I have been lurking for a while, enjoying the useful information that
you have all been giving out.

But (and you guessed it!) I now have an issue with wxMozilla.

I know there is a wxMozilla list, but it seems a little dead right now.
So here is my issue, and I am hoping someone has a solution.

I am running debian unstable, first of all.

I built mozilla from source (not recommended, it takes all day),
wxPython from source and wxMozilla from source. Nothing from debian this
time. All by hand.

Which version of wxPython are you using? I'm assuming it is 2.4 as it shouldn't even build for 2.5... (Working on this.) I personally would recommend you use the Debian packages from unstable for Mozilla, Mozilla-devel, and wxPython. How you built each of these tools could cause incompatibilities, and wxMozilla is designed to pick up your installed wxPython and Mozilla's configuration settings to reduce the possibility of problems occurring.

In fact, if you do have a system-installed package for either Mozilla or wxPython somewhere, it's possible that wxMozilla is picking up settings from that installed package, which could cause problems when you then run wxMozilla against your user-built Mozilla/wxPython.

The c wxMozillaDemo works lovely. The wxPython stuff all works fine too.
But the wxMozilla python demo does not. It throws:

(process:16932): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:1871: initialization
assertion failed, use g_type_init() prior to this function

(process:16932): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line 615
(g_object_new): assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed

So, my question is this: Has anyone got wxMozilla working with wxPython
and gtk2? Is there some option to configure that I should be using?

I am using GTK at the moment (just because that's what Mandrake uses), but I'm pretty sure Vaclav uses GTK2, so maybe he's come across this problem before. I'm CCing this message to the wxMozilla list so that he can take a look at it.

Thanks,

Kevin

Sorry, no idea what could be causing this...
