The wx.ComboBox can be set with the drop down menu but not by typing
in it. Easily checked with the demo. This bug report seems related:

Sorry, I should've mentioned that in the first place: Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Intel).

I'm not able to duplicate this on 10.5 so it may be something that is related to the Carbon APIs. I've updated the ticket.
