No I think, it is the challenge and the joy to write directly in
wxPython an editor, as I enjoy it in DrPython
And you will come quickly to some reasonable results.
You can adjust fast to your needs (not only cusomizable shortcuts, popup
menus, ...) without recompiling an emacs.
