Have you considered that maybe, instead of doing a waf upgrade just for the heck of it, Robin could instead spend that time getting Phoenix out the door sooner? I'm pretty sure a waf upgrade will make only you happy, while a Phoenix beta will make just about the entire wxPython community happy.
You might want to ask yourself why you spend so much time and energy worrying about things like this that aren't causing anyone any actual problems. You, and the project, will see better results if you focus your time and energy on the real issues preventing people from adopting wxPython and Phoenix.
