SAP DB is really great, but now it is related with MySQL, a good thing for the open source movement, but this means SAP DB is not going to be free in the near future.

Don't forget SAP DB! www.sapdb.org It's based on Adabas D which
ran well in Windows in 1996 at least. But Interbase is certainly
mainly a Windows database, so I suppose Firebird should run as
well in Windows as on other platforms. SAP AG is a somewhat heavier
player than the guys behind Firebird though...
Just to clarify, SAP-DB will be changing its license from LGPL to GPL.
This means that to use SAP-DB client libraries with a proprietary package
requires a commercial license from MySQL AB. It is still free for any
GPL-compatable programs.
