Which 2.5? Do you know if the tansparent pixels are fully transparent
or only partially (alpha blend)? It may be that the native TreeCtrl
can't handle alpha, but only masks.

This was the case. I changed the png images to be 256 colours with palette
transparency selected and it started working properly.
