JAWC (Just Another wxPython Control). You may find it
useful. ToasterBox is a cross platform library to make the creation of
MSN style "Toaster" popups easier.
This wxPython implementation of
ToasterBox contains a rearranged translation of the wxWidgets
contribution:

that allows you to put whatever control you want on your
ToasterBox,
not only an image in background and some text. There are
some caveats

As usual, I have tested it
only on Windows 2000/XP, so
every comments on the behavior on other
platforms is really
appreciated. I am quite sure that the enhanced
option won't work on
MacOS, because of the use of the Reparent()
method.
