Take the wx.stc for example, how many projects are there that simply took
PythonSTC class from the demo and use it? each of them improving it to do
a little bit more than the original. All this effort could have went in a
high level editor class, part of wxPython.
Patrick O'Brien produced PyCrust which is an extension of wxSTC to
provide an interactive Python shell and is included with wxPython. It is
both an application that can be used by itself and a component for plugging
into other applications.
