I tried running the 2.8.8.1 demo on 2.8.7.1 install…on OS X
It exited silently…
maybe a simple error dialog in case of version error could be displayed.
In created a little bit of confusion since I knew I had 2.8…

It's probably an ImportError happening before the App is created. I've added a version check and a warning message box if there's a version mismatch.
