Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it still doesn't seem to do anything. I'm trying as follows: when my main Frame's __init__ has made all the TC and button and STC and menu stuff, it calls
self.WholeText.SetSTCFocus(True)
(WholeText is the STC panel.) But the focus stays on that TextCtrl at the top of the Frame. ??
