Allow me to jump into this discussion. Leslie, you said that during the installation of wxPython a top-level directory was created which you renamed to wxPython. Please do not rename this top-level directory. Firstly, remove wxPython via Add/Remove Programs, then install wxPython again and don't rename anything during the installation.
Um, we already told her that. Why are you repeating the advice already given?

The problem is solved. I had the wrong version of wxPython. I installed the right version, and everything turned out OK.
