It's interesting that questions relating to "classic Python blunders" don't turn up on this list very often. They happen all the time on comp.lang.python, but I never get the chance to comment there, because are others waiting in line before me to pounce on them.
For those who aren't up on their pop culture, the "classic blunders" line comes from Princess Bride, a movie with more quotable lines per minute than any other movie I know:
Vizzini: You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic
blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in
Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against
a Sicilian when death is on the line!

As an aside, I would love to read a short web page or such (of The
Classic Python Blunders. If it doesn't exist, I encourage you to
write it and add it to the wiki or somewhere.
