Possibly bug in PyAUI when reopening closed notebook page

Hello Andrea,

I see a possible bug in PyAUI. I have a closable pane, and I drag it
to a different non-closable pane to make a notebook. The notebook is
created successfully. When I press the (nicely done  X button on the
pane to close it, it closes well and the notebook seems to be
cancelled, and the second pane remains, just as it should be.

But, when I make the first pane reappear by using `Show`, it appears
in a weird position on the screen with no context.

Did you try this case? If you don't see this bug I'll try to distill
it.

Ram.

Sample Please!

this sounds weird, and, I’m feeling successful now, so I’ll try to help.

Hi, I will kill all ads in google gmail.
They will all be dead and gone for all my emails to you. HA HA bye bye ads I just massacred you!!!

Here’s my app in zip:

https://github.com/cool-RR/GarlicSim/zipball/4d856b804dfa4eb4b962a7d162c2773d02f971e2

Run the run_gui.py file, then File → New → life → Create state → Drag the crunching tool to the shell tool to create a notebook → Close the crunching tool with X button → Re-show the crunching tool by selecting Crunching in the Window menu → The crunching tool appears weirdly.

You’re not rude, this is indeed a full app and not a legitimate sample. Here, a sample is attached now.

What the sample does is revive “text ctrl 3” once every few seconds. Close it and see how it comes back in a few seconds to the same place. Now, put it in a notebook with “text ctrl 2”, then close it, and when it next revives, it will appear weirdly in the top left corner.

(A possible reason for the import error might be that you didn’t run run_gui.py itself, I don’t know if you did.)

Hi, I don’t want to sound rude, but what you sent seems to be your full app, not a small, sample app. please read http://wiki.wxpython.org/MakingSampleApps. The other issue is that I am getting an import error for the “garlicsim” module. I don’t fully understand what python does when there is a user made module, I have only used that with single files that reside right next to my

main script.
Thanks,

Micah

Yes, it’s based on the dev version.

Also, let’s keep this discussion on the list (keeping wxPython-users@googlegroups.com as a receipent,) so others can benefit from our experience.

ok, this is based on the dev version of AUI? If it is, I’ll get to installing it.

Hi, I haven’t found anything, so you should submit a ticket to the bug tracker.

Were you able to reproduce it?
