Any idea what the next release of wxPython will be, and the broad timing ??
I'm really keen to use some of the new features in Python 3.1, but
obviously can't use wxPython yet as it is not available for Python 3.1.
Python 2.7 may be a good alternative, though it is still in alpha.
Alpha 4 was release on 6-March-2010 and I'm hoping the first release
will be not be too far away.
Also, being a Mac OS X user, I'm keen to use the new work in wxWidgets
3.0 (when it is released). I note that wxWidgets 2.9.0 was released on
8-Sep-2009, and I think 2.9.1 may even be available somewhere.
So are we to expect wxPython 2.9.x or 3.0 for python 2.6 and/or Python
2.7 and/or Python 3.1 ??
What about wxPython 2.8 for Python 2.7 and/or Python 3.1 ??
If you’re a subscriber to this list, then you should have noticed that Robin Dunn mentioned that when 2.8.11 drops, he’ll put that out soon after. On the wx-dev list, there are some preview builds of wxPython 2.9, which are for the Python 2.x series. There has been recent discussions of getting the wxPython 3.1 port into this year’s Google Summer of Code program, but I never heard if that happened.
What we need are some C++ / SWIG gurus who can help Robin with the port, otherwise it’ll probably be a while.
