as it's always been my style, I have stolen the wxWidgets C++
source for the new RibbonBar and translated it to Python. Moreover,
there are (or will be shortly when I update AGW in SVN) a bunch of new
features for AUI, thanks to the work Michael H has done and few ideas
I had in the last week (thank you Michael for the time you spent on
AUI!). Plus, there will shortly be a new version of GUI2Exe with some
new (and long due) improvements.
Anyway, if there is any interest in a pure-Python RibbonBar, I'll
upload it on my website for testing as soon as I get some time to edit
my website. I don't personally like the RibbonBar that much, but it's
just a personal opinion: then if the bugs in the Python version get
corrected we may think on including it in wx.lib.agw in parallel with
the wrapped wxWidgets RibbonBar when it makes it into 2.9 (or 3.0).
For the curious, some screenshots explaining all the rubbish I said above :

Very very nice! You're a legend mate with some of the stuff you create
is super impressive; it's beyond me at times.
I'd definitely be interested in it at some point
Cool! I always like messing with your new stuff. If you do use the ribbon bar in the next GUI2Exe release, I’ll have to finally get around to updating my tutorial on it.
