Hello Mr. Moose,
I don't have any idea about security issues, but concerning the other
3 points:
*Proof that you can write robust GUI's in wxPython.
*Who else is using it for mission critical apps?
*Proof of stability
It is about 6 months that I am working on a big application, that is
reaching now 50,000 lines of code, written in Python + wxPython for the
GUI. We have been testing it for a while (2/3 months at the moment), for
mathematical global optimization in Oil Reservoir Engineering problems
(model calibration). The application communicates also with Matlab, Fortran
and C/C++ in order to use the optimization routines. I have compiled it
without big problems into an executable (on Windows 2000 and XP).
I have no idea if our project is a mission critical thing (we usually don't
have this kind of definitions in our work), but with this application we
are trying to replace 5 or 6 commercial software on the market, that cost
us abot 500,000 euros per year.
Regarding stability and robustness, I have started my app about 15 days ago
and it is still running without problems (our numerical simulations are
quite expensive to run). Regarding whistles and bells, they do not create
problems or complications in the app. Even with the huge pre and post
processing and storing of data, my app is taking 40 MB of RAM. That is a
ridicolous amount of memory when compared to other (and simpler)
applications.
Just my 2 cents.
Andrea.
