Need help with the glcanvas

I am working on a quite big application so I will give you a basic
code snippet I am working on

My problem is that I am trying to load a glcanvas onto the panel. I
googled and found a few problems similar to this one, but none really
helped me.

I tried everything. even use : canvas = Canvas(panel)
Something similar is in the wxPython docs and demos but in this demos
the parent of the canvas is the frame, but not a panel. I tried
several things and could not make it work.

anyone any idea?

If you didn't do anything to manage the size of the canvas then it may have just been invisible because it was too small to see. Try adding this:

         canvas = Canvas(self.panel1)
         sizer = wx.BoxSizer()
         sizer.Add(canvas, 1, wx.EXPAND)
         self.panel1.SetSizer(sizer)
  self.panel1.Layout()
