It should come with python mode. I never had to install anything beyond xemacs
(or emacs at that).
Emacs tends to trigger on the files extension. If it's a *.py it should come
up in python-mode, which will give you a menu on the top that says
"IM-Python", under which all the classes and methods of that specific file
are indexed.
If it doesn't display "python" in the bottom status bar, you may want to hit
ESC-x
and type "python-mode" + hit enter (without the quotes).
