That sounds really helpful! I hope the proceedings will make it into an
archived tutorial too.
Do you know if there is such a thing for OS X? I'm normally a web
developer so I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to packaging but need
to get that going here.
Thanks

Several projets (Taskcoach, Dabo, ...) on this list reported it was

a special tutorial session for packaging python programs in the Ubuntu

More information about Ubuntu Open week here:
UbuntuOpenWeek - Ubuntu WikiIn the session it will be probably shown how to package a "hello
world" python program with a dependency (e.g. pil, wxpython, pygtk are
dependencies) and a data file (such as an image/icon). After that it
should be trivial to get started packaging your own projects. I will
also attend the session and probably assist with wxpython (=
python-wxgtk) related issues. If you use Windows but would like to see
your project in Ubuntu, you work with Ubuntu in a virtual machine such
as of vmware. If you have any issues or questions you want to see discussed during
this session, you can discuss them in this thread and I'll report them
to Emilio.I hope to see you at the session!
