Hi,
Do you already have the wxPython demo package? It's REALLY great for
learning how to fool around with wxPython. Very simple sample programs
are included in it. Definitely try it.
Yes, I have wxPython downloaded and installed. The only examples and
demos I have found don't seem to have the key elements I need, especially
VERY SIMPLE components for use in the IDLE GUI, and understandable return
of variables to the program. As a side issue, about half of the Samples
are very quirky (buggy?) on my system (Python\Lib\site-packages\wxPython
Demo and Samples). Just because a popup looks pretty when it runs doesn't
mean it can be easily incorporated as a functional application
component/tool in a vanilla Python program. It can be very frustrating to
make the giant leap. I don't envision myself as a wxPython programmer, but
as a utility programmer using whatever EXISTING tools are most appropriate
to do the job. I know that NO tool does everything for everybody and
versatility is wonderful ... but surely there is a 6" Crescent wrench
(spanner?) around somewhere? That's versatile enough for me for now.
For Windows the demo package is bundled with the wxPython prebuilt
binary. See Redirecting...
Yup ... that's what I downloaded and installed ... the middle box.
After you've tried the demo, the wxPython wiki pages are highly
recommended.
I've looked at the Wiki ... again, it seems to be intended for developing
wxPython programmers. I couldn't find any canned tools.
I'll be out of your hair shortly and only lurking on the sidelines.
Thank you for your gracious comments, suggestions, assistance, and even
criticisms.
Blessings in abundance, all the best, and ENJOY!
