Is /usr/local/lib either listed in /etc/ld.so.conf file or specified in

you built wxWidgets?
That was it. I ran ldconfig (with no args) but /usr/local/lib wasn't in my
ld.so.conf file, so it didn't solve the problem. Adding it to ld.so.conf
fixed it.
I have a ton of stuff in /usr/local/lib and have never had this
problem before. Perhaps the other software I've installed somehow
located and "hard-wired" the lib paths at build/install time. It seems
to me I should have had /usr/local/lib in the conf file all along.
Thanks a lot, Robin, for the quick and very helpful response!
