How to send a keyboard or a mouse event through a program

Hello all,
Does anyboby know how I can have wxPython send an event like a keyboard
or a mouse event. For instance a character in a Text Control.
According to the documentation wxEvtHandler::ProcessEvent
should do just that. Any pointers or one example would be appreciated.
