Search for "free web hosting" on google. There are a few meta-sites
that offer a searchable listing of free web hosting, one of which is
0moola.com, which seems to offer 5gb of disk and 10gb of bandwidth. If
that doesn't work for you, consider requesting a sourceforge project
page.---
Believe me, I spent all the week trying to find something.
The web is full of offers. Beside the storage and bandwidth, there are
a lot of annoying limitations, like
- Impossibility to store exe files
- Impossibility to store zip files
- Limited file sizes, a "Python/wxPython > py2exe > InnoSetup" file
weights ~4 Mb.
- No ftp access.
- A lot of "perveses" issues, that are never mentionned on the
front pages.Sourceforge is just too complicate for an hobbyist and it is
made for a specific task/project (as I understood). Beside this,
it requires more maintenance and presence, an hobbyist can afford.
Go to: http://sourceforge.net/docs/B02/en/#projectweb for information
about what <project>.sf.net hosting offers.
You don't need to maintain the sf.net/projects/<project> page at all if
you don't want, and you can disable the forums, trackers, etc. As long
as your software is open source, and as long as your request isn't
brain dead, you'll get space. It is limited to 100 megs on the web
front end, but if you are OK with using the file release system (it's
pretty easy), you can offer just about as much as you want (they have a
hidden mirror of the 320 megs of old PyPE releases)
http://0moola.com/ was not on my hit lists. Thank you for the tips.
Finding a place where you can host Shakira's (?) pictures is easy,
finding a place for Python scripts is one another task.
Sourceforge will let you host anything, offer it via their file tracker,
or even just as a file uploaded to the web server account.
