getting user desktop folder

Hi, using the wx.GenericDirCtrl is possible to add the user desktop as a
new node?

Not without making changes in the C++ code implementing wxGenericDirCtrl.

I just would like to have a panel with the computer file (a sort of explorer..).
Is this the best way (using wx.GenericDirCtrl) or do you suggest to me another one?
