In wxPython 2.7.0pre most dialogs seems to be somewhat bigger (looks very ugly when it comes to simple “small” dialogs ).
In wxPython 2.6.3.3 (and older) everything looks fine.
Just try the sample app (attached) with both and you will notice the difference.
