Efficient Handling Question

Sorry if that seemed rude or anything... I didn't mean it that way at all.

Peter,

Nor did I take it that way.

My software engineering friend tells me that the transition from languages
like Fortran and C (the latter I've used for about 20 years now) to an OO
language such as python is filled with pitfalls for the occasional coder.
He, of course, spends his time writing test applications, diagnostic code,
and administering systems and networks. I write only when I need an
application that does not exist.

(I'm actually quite enjoying your series of questions, because they're
non-trivial and thought-provoking, not the run-of-the-mill stuff. )

Thank you. Flattery will get you everywhere.
