Having just gone through something similar myself (but with trees and
dragging between windows), I would recommend (1) a look at the demos
pertaining to drag and drop, and (2) a look at the wiki examples
(http://wiki.wxpython.org/index.cgi/DragAndDrop).
I also recommend starting with one of the simple examples and basically
either building on top of that or very carefully "merging" it into your
existing code. If all you need to do is drag text from one list to
another, it's pretty simple and you won't get lost in the complexities of
dragging and dropping arbitrary objects from arbitrary locations.
