What exactly is 'double' about a double slider?
A double slider has 2 handles, which can't cross each other,
in that way you can set a range with seperate upper and lower bound,
without loosing the space needed for 2 sliders (not to think of the synchronisation 
And coming from hardware, we even use triple sliders,
and if can be done in hardware, it certainly is possible in software
But I've to admit that's very rare.
